EASTPORT – Louise Emily (Hooper) Chapais went to meet the Lord and to live in eternal peace Feb. 19, 2005. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and special friend, Pat Brown. She was born Dec. 12, 1919, in St. John, N.B. A long-time resident of Eastport, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 50 years, Charles. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she used her sewing talents to make the beautiful alter cloth. She loved to crotchet and sew for family and friends. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was very active in church activities such as the choir, rummage sales, bake sales and church suppers. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family members, daughter, Doreen Kilby and husband, Philip, of Pembroke, N.H., Lynda Frye and husband, Jack, of Belmont, N.C., Brenda Langlois and husband, Arthur, of Biddeford, Rebecca Kierstead and husband, Robert, of Eastport, Diane Jamieson and husband, Fred, of Limestone and son, David Chapais, of Southwest Harbor; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with one arriving in August; one sister, Joyce Bumford of Barrington, N.H.; brother, Leonard Hooper of Saco; several nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to the Eastern Maine Medical Center staff, her doctors and nurses who offered such warm care to Louise. Visiting hours will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Flaggs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church following visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
