LOYCE THORNTON RIPLEY TOPSFIELD – Loyce Thornton Ripley, 85, wife of the late Herbert Ripley, died Dec. 23, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 4, 1918, in Topsfield, the youngest of five children of Lester and Lulu (Bean) Thornton. Loyce was very proud of the fact that she was a welder on Liberty Ships at the Portland Shipyard during World War II. She lived in Plainville, Conn., for 23 years, and worked as an inspector at Pratt & Whitney-United Aircraft, from which she retired. She was a member of Royal Chapter No. 145, OES of Princeton, and was a past member of Musquash Grange of Topsfield. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Randy and Barbara Ripley of Plainville, Conn., and Boyde and Joyce Ripley of Topsfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
