DOVER-FOXCROFT and SOUTH BOSTON, Mass. – Lucille Akerley Perkins, 82, beloved wife of the late Reginald B. Perkins, passed away Feb. 18, 2006, at a South Boston, Mass. nursing home, where she had been a resident for the past five years. She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Frank and Marion (Fuller) Akerley. Lucille attended schools in Boston and Foxcroft Academy. She worked at Dexter Shoe for many years, until her retirement 17 years ago. She was a member of Wassookeag Chapter No. 44085 OES and the Baptist Church in Dexter. Lucille had resided with her daughter, Patricia and her beloved son-in-law, Creighton Wedge, from 1998 until her admission to Marion Manor in South Boston in 2001. She enjoyed baking, music and singing. An avid animal lover, she especially enjoyed her cat, Teenie-Weenie. She always had a wonderful smile, a twinkle in her eye and a soft gentle hand. She was loved and admired by all. Lucille enjoyed being a loving mother to her five children and a wonderful caring grandmother to her 11 grandchildren. She is survived by her five children, James R. Perkins of Atkinson, Patricia (Perkins) Wedge of Norton, Mass., Jayne (Perkins) D’Agostino of Manchester, N.H., Lary L. Perkins of Middleboro, Mass. and Kathy (Perkins) Sage of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother, Frank Akerley of South Boston; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Milton Akerley; and two sisters, Harriett Doyle and Alice Richenburg. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A graveside funeral service at the family lot in the Dover Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
