MILLINOCKET – Lucille M. Mayo, 80, died at a Lincoln healthcare facility on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004. She was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Bangor the daughter of John H. and Stella I. (Landry) McVey. Lucille graduated from Stearns High School and attended Husson College. She worked at Sears Roebuck and served as assistant treasurer at Katahdin Federal Credit Union for many years. In retirement, Lucille and her husband, Peter, enjoyed traveling and spending time at their camp at South Twin Lake. She was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph “Pete” Mayo in 1990; a brother, John H. McVey Jr.; and a nephew, Thomas Tapley. Lucille is survived by her brother’s family, her sister-in-law, E. Patricia McVey of Millinocket and her children, John McVey of Brewer, Kevin McVey of Millinocket, Lucille “Lulu” LeGassey of Millinocket, and Mark McVey of Brewer; three cousins, Jackie Bromwell of Virginia, Theresa Dalton of Brewer, and Sylvia Condon of Bangor, and several other special nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Robert Tapley of Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Spring burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
