WINDSOR, Calif. – Lucille “Pat” Eldridge, 86, passed away Oct. 6, 2007, in Santa Rosa, Calif. She was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Brewer, the daughter of Montford E. Patten and Josephine J. Patten, and younger sister of Lloyd E. Patten. She was a graduate of Brewer High School where she met the love of her life, John, whom she married in 1942. She worked as a beautician while her husband, John, completed his masters and Ph.D degrees in chemical engineering. They lived in Charlottesville, Va., from 1950 to 1962 where John taught at the University of Virginia. In 1962, they moved to Amherst, Mass., where John became the department head of the chemical engineering department at the University of Massachusetts. In 1997 they moved to Windsor, Calif., to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. Pat was known to her family and friends as a warm, outgoing and thoughtful person. She was a well-loved hostess of parties and picnics for family, friends and faculty members. She loved dancing, playing the piano, singing with friends, painting and sketching, camping, boating and traveling. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the faculty wives organizations. Pat and John treasured the many summers they spent in Maine at their camp on Branch Pond. She was the dearly beloved wife of the late John William Eldridge for 64 years; loving mother of John William Eldridge Jr. “Jack,” Stephen Chapman Eldridge and David Patten Eldridge; mother-in-law of Patricia M. Eldridge and Ginette R. Eldridge; and loved grandmother of Scott Byron Eldridge, Jonathan Edward Eldridge, Sean Brandon Eldridge and Briana Renee Eldridge; great-grandmother of Joseph Morgan Eldridge; and aunt of Lois Patten and Louise Patten. No formal services will be held. Private interment will be at Marston Cemetery, Orrington. Arrangements by Daniels Chapel of the Roses Funeral and Cremation Services, Santa Rosa, Calif.
