WASHBURN – Gloria (Webber) Wilcox, 86, wife of the late Alden Wilcox, went home to be with her Lord, Oct. 23, 2007, in Westbrook. She was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Olie and Gladys (Harper) Webber. Gloria was a licensed practical nurse at A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital, Presque Isle, for 17 years and enjoyed giving extra loving care to her patients. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed antiquing with her husband, Alden, playing the guitar, singing and yodeling, and spending quiet times at Squa Pan Lake. In her younger years, she worked very hard doing seasonal work, picking potatoes, cutting seed, and loved picking fiddleheads. Gloria was a wonderful and prolific artist and painted hundreds of works throughout her lifetime, with many awards and Best of Show’s. She was a longtime member of Washburn Pentecostal Church and had a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Larry and Diane of Limington, Robert and Karen of Lisbon Falls, Alden Jr. “Denny” and Sue of New Hartford, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Wilcox of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Norma Hitchcock of Washburn, and Patrizia Moccia of Connecticut, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grand-children. She was predeceased by her best friend and loving husband, Alden; a son, Woodford; brothers, Olie Webber, Gary and James Corapi; and sisters, Lila Martin, Betty Jones and Frankie Orr. Funeral service will be held noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at Washburn Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Relatives and friends may visit 11-noon at the church. Burial will be immediately after the service at Crouseville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washburn District High School, 1359 Main St., Washburn, ME 04786. The donation will be used for a one-time scholarship to a Washburn graduate pursing a degree in art. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
