ELKTON, Va. – Lucius H. Carroll Jr., 65, of 7073 Rocky Bar Road, Elkton, died peacefully, Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. Mr. Carroll was born May 18, 1940, in Millgap, Va., and was the son of the late Lucius H. Carroll Sr. and Ruth Irvine Carroll. LH served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years and in Vietnam. He retired from International Paper Company in Presque Isle and in recent years worked for E.A. Breeden, Inc. in Elkton, and was a part-time driver and manager for Trail Blazer Auto Sales. Mr. Carroll lived in Maine for 31 year and loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling and never met a stranger. He was past president of Sno-Drifters Club and an auctioneer for Maine Pine Tree Crippled Children’s Club for many years. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah L. Carroll; a mother-in-law, Odelle Dickinson; two special daughters, Lyn Cook and husband, Don, of Harrisonburg, and their sons, Michael and Nathan, Korena Breeden and husband, Dan, of Elkton, and their sons, Kyle and Brandon; two brothers, Keith Irvine and his wife, Louise, of Grottoes, Va. Gary Carroll, of Grottoes, Va.; one sister, Shirley Taylor and her husband, Ronnie, of Grottoes, Va.; two very special friends from Maine, Harry McCall of Presque Isle, Bill McCall of Bangor, and many other caring friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Carroll and father-in-law, Marvin “Pal” Dickinson. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton, Va. The Rev. Stuart Wood will conduct the service. Burial will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville. The family will receive friends tonight 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the Carroll home at any time. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Dr. Densmore, Liz, Diane and the UVA stem cell staff and nurses on Three East.
