EXETER – Lyle E. Farnham, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Exeter, Oct. 17, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lyle was born Dec. 15, 1926, the son of the late Albion Smith and Florence May Wilson. Lyle enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 1944 and served with the 3rd Marine Division on Iwo Jima and other battles of the Pacific area. Lyle was a dairy farmer and a carpenter. Lyle is survived by his wife of 55 years, Muriel Farnham; a daughter, Debra Murdock and Rick Brown; four sons, Douglas Farnham and his wife, Paula Farnham, Dennis Farnham and Michelle Jule, Dale Farnham and Phyllis Horne and Danny Farnham; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Burton; a brother, Donald Farnham; and predeceased by a brother, William Farnham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends. A private service was held by the family. Arrangements by Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home of Bangor.
