BANDY, Va. – Lyman A. Cottle, 76, of Bandy, Va., formerly of Winterport, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at his home following a long illness. Born in Winterport, he was the son of the late Otis and Laura (Bickford) Cottle. He was a retired state employee with the Maine Department of Transportation. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene Cottle; one granddaughter, Jennifer Stanard; and one son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Sweet. Mr. Cottle is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mrs. Barbara (McTague) Cottle; four daughters, Mary Morris and husband, Dan, of Texas, Pauline “Polly” Shrewsbury of Pennsylvania, Shirley Hachey and husband, Dennis, of Maine, and Carol Sweet of North Carolina; two stepchildren, Lori Lowe and husband, Matt, of Florida, and Amy Jordan and husband, Dwayne, of Cedar Bluff, Va.; one sister, Truth Hackett of Washington state; one brother, Wayne Cottle of California; mother-in-law, Marge Hicks of Bandy, Va.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Floyd Lane, Beth Johnson and Becky Kinder.
