BANGOR, ASBURY PARK and POINT PLEASANT, N.J. – M. Ethel Dean, 86, died March 12, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of William and Mary Margaret (Sherman) Leimkuhler. In the 1940’s she worked as a sales manager for Sears and Roebuck. Ethel worked as a librarian at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Weston, Mass., for several years. She enjoyed her summers coming to vacation to Bryant Pond in Maine, a place that was very dear to her. Ethel took great pride that she was the wife of her beloved B. Howard Dean of Northrop Corporation, who predeceased her Feb. 23, 1978. She enjoyed being his other half. In her later years she followed her family to Sarasota, Fla. and to Georgia to stay close. Ethel is survived by a son, Stephen Dean and wife, Diana, of Point Pleasant, N.J.; a daughter, Valerie Coleman and husband, Jim, of Veazie; a stepson, Kenneth Dean and wife, Janet Leigh, of Felch, Mich.; brothers and sisters, Frank Lucas of Davenport, Fla., Barbara Manicocci of Seattle, Wash., Joan Lucas of Spokane, Wash., Margaret Mazzaro of Naples, Fla., Edward Lucas of Bay Island City, N.Y., Roger Lucas of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Bruce Lucas of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.; 12 grandchildren, Debbie, Renee, Lori, Krisanne, Billy, Gail Ann, Erica, Kimberly, Dean, Jason, Sarah, and A.J. She also left behind several dear nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ross Manor. The scope of their skill and the depth of their compassion was both enlightening and of great comfort. Visiting hours will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, N.J., where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17.
