SEARSPORT – Norman P. Martin, 82, died March 11, 2006, at a Belfast hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Hamlin, son of Peter R. and Edna M. (Cormier) Martin. Norman worked at Maplewood Poultry Plant and retired from Penobscot Poultry, Belfast, after many years of service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Belfast, enjoyed antique cars and trucks, going to the Owls Head Transportation Museum and taking photographs. He is survived by his children, Armand R. Martin and his wife, Ella, of Searsmont, Gloria Oldenburg and her husband, William, Richard Martin and his wife, Georgia, of Jay, James Martin and his wife, Gilde, of Italy; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Irene Thibodeau of Caribou, Carmen Thibodeau and her husband, Alden, of Caribou, Conrad Martin of Van Buren, Pauline Ouellette of Van Buren, Gerald Martin and his wife, Mary, of Lisbon Falls; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Lena M. Martin in 2001; sisters, Alfreda Doucette, Gertrude Ouellete. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the Young Funeral Home 31 West Main St., Searsport. Spring interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Searsport.
