FREEPORT – Mabel B. Devoe, 88, of Rt. 1 North, died Aug. 25, 2004, at Hawthorne House. She was born June 5, 1916, in Ashland, a daughter of George and Amanda Theriault Bushey. She was the wife of the late Harry E. Devoe. Mr. and Mrs. Devoe lived in Presque Isle for many years until moving to Florida. Following Mr. Devoe’s death in the 1960’s, Mrs. Devoe lived in Connecticut, before retiring here in 1982. She enjoyed walking, feeding birds, needlework, crossword puzzles and gardening. She was predeceased by a brother, Larry Bushey. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Devoe of Freeport and Paul Devoe of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Gerald Bushey of Ashland; two sisters, Fern Guerette of Caribou and Maxine Young of Northbrook, Ill.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at St. Jude’s Church, Main Street, Freeport. Interment will be in Parish Cemetery, Sheridan Rd, Ashland.
