BELFAST – Mabel Michaud Webber, 92, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Waldo County General Hospital. She was born April 4, 1916, in Island Falls, the daughter of Dennis and Lucy (Jandreau) Michaud. Mabel was trained as a registered nurse at Maine General Hospital, Portland. She worked as a nurse at Bradbury Hospital, Belfast. She also did private nursing and helped with many Red Cross blood drives. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and an outstanding cook. Her family always looked forward to her Saturday night homemade baked beans, yeast rolls and apple pies. Mabel was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Belfast. She is survived by her children, Dennis J. Webber and his wife, Daryl, of Lincolnville, Carolyn D. DeVita and her husband, Donald J., of Kent, Conn., Linda A. Soares and her husband, Glenn A., of Belfast and Michael D. Webber and his wife, Patricia, of Belfast; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Marie (Michaud) O’Connell of Brewer, Rita (Michaud) Flint of Belfast and Francis Michaud of Bangor. In addition to her parents, Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Webber; two sisters, Irene (Michaud) Sturgeon and Geneva (Michaud) Marin; and three brothers, Leroy, Albert and Elmer Michaud. The family wishes to thank the staff at Harbor Hill and Waldo County General Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness. Family and friends will gather for visitation 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 31 West Main St., Searsport. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 47 Court St., Belfast, with Father Joseph Kory, celebrant. Interment will be held at Mount Rest Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Waldo County Hospital Hospice, Northport Avenue, Belfast, ME 04915.
