BANGOR – Mabel S. Palmer, 92, the wife of the late John Palmer Sr., passed away Aug. 15, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born March 26, 1914, in Roxbury, Mass., the daughter of James and Mary (Hallett) Steele. Mabel was a loving and caring person who enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking. She was a volunteer at Northeast Combat for many years, which she enjoyed. She is survived by one son, John Jr. and his wife, Franca, of Maryland; one daughter, Betty (Palmer) Grant and her husband, Ron, of Hudson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her many friends at Ross Manor. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, Ralph. The family thanks the staff of Ross Manor for all the wonderful care and attention at their time of need. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Trudy Stone, Chaplain of New Hope Hospice, officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to wear blue, as it was her favorite color. Family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the services to her granddaughter, Julie’s house on the Hudson Road, Glenburn.
