OXBOW and SACO – Michael J. Rhinebolt 49, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at a Portland hospital. Michael was born March 15, 1957, in Virginia Beach, Va., the son of Jack and Jean “Tucker” Rhinebolt. In 1970, the family moved to Oxbow and he was a graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1976. He went on to graduate from Maritime Forest Ranger Academy in New Brunswick, Canada in 1978. Michael was employed as a forestry technician for Prentiss and Carlisle Land Management Co. for 24 years. He loved the woods, hunting, fishing and building log homes. Each year, he eagerly anticipated an annual canoe trip down the Aroostook River at “ice out” with his close friends and classmates. He is remembered by his family and friends for his good humor, work ethic, honor, generosity and engaging personality. His presence at every gathering was eagerly anticipated as he truly was the life and soul of the party. His “posse” will forever remember all of the good times that they shared together. Michael’s loving care and genuine compassion in the lives of his wife, Lorna, and stepson, Nathan, will especially be missed. He was predeceased by his brother, David J. Rhinebolt. He is survived by mother and father, Jack and Jean Rhinebolt of Phippsburg; wife, Lorna (West); stepson, Nathan Cameron of Saco; brother, Dan and wife, Ellen, of Las Vegas; brother, John and companion, Mary Ann, of Virginia Beach, Va.; special nephew, David Rhinebolt and wife, Holly, of Limestone, Jacob and Robert Rhinebolt of Las Vegas, Matthew Rhinebolt of Tennessee and Dustin Rhinebolt; and nieces, Michelle Hartsgrove of Washburn and Nicole Rhinebolt of Las Vegas. He will also be sadly missed by special friends, Myron Howes, Ann Currier and Dana Cameron. There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Umcolcus Sporting Camps, Oxbow.
