CHARLOTTE – Mabel V. McGlauflin, 98, lifetime resident of Charlotte, died July 11, 2004, at Gardiner Healthcare Facility, Gardiner. She was the daughter of Wellington James and Lizzie Maude Clark of Charlotte. Mabel was known for her love of gardening and always welcomed visitors to her home with cookies and a hot cup of tea. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her home. She was a wonderful storyteller and often would share memories of her childhood with family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Arthur H. McGlauflin; and an infant daughter, Pauline May. She was also predeceased by eight sisters, Ada Smith, Lena James, Edna Taylor, Lizzie Brown, Leta Day, Delia Day, Ethel Annas, Nellie Tyler; and three brothers, Raymond James, Otis James and Wellington James. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Hollis and his wife, Rosemary, of Hallowell, Donald and his wife, Jane, of Poland, Ronald and his wife, Roxana, of Dover-Foxcroft, Christine and her husband, Richard, of Chelsea; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn McGlauflin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at Scott Wilson Funeral Home, Calais, with the Rev. Hunt officiating. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Round Pond Cemetery following the service. A reception at her home will follow the committal service. At the request of the family, donations in her memory may be made to the Charlotte Baptist Church or Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department.
