HARRINGTON – Madeline J. Kennedy, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at a Machias healthcare facility after a long illness. She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Harrington, the daughter of Henry O. and Rose (Dolan) Nichols. Madeline enjoyed gardening, raking blueberries, being with her family and working with her friends at L. Ray Packing Co., in Milbridge. Madeline will be most remembered for her devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for more than 50 years to many members of the community at the First Baptist Church of Harrington where she was a long-time member. Madeline also had the ability to always see the best in everything. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Dana Kennedy of Whiting; three children, Rita Brown of Scarborough, Ruth Ann Preston and her husband, Travis, of Roques Bluff and Ronald Kennedy and his wife, Christy, of Harrington; seven grandchildren, Dana and Danielle Brown of Lynchburg, Va., Jeremy Parker of Orono, Kule Parker, Leigh Ann Colbeth and her husband, Brandon, all of Roques Bluff, Everett Kennedy and his wife, Rebecca, and Bradley Kennedy, all of Harrington; two great-grand-children, Dakota Colbeth and Haley Madeline Kennedy of Harrington; two sisters, Beatrice Hammond and her husband, George, of Harrington and Natalie Wass and her husband, Robert, of Hampden; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Nichols of Cherryfield and Barbara Spizio of Harrington; a brother-in-law, John Kennedy and his wife, Virginia, of Harrington; special nephews, Larry and Chester Nichols Jr. of Harrington; special church friends, Joanna Strout of Milbridge and Olive Coffin of Steuben. She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Robert; brothers, Robert, Chet, and Henry Nichols Jr.; sister, Gwen Faulkingham; and a beloved son-in-law, Raymond Brown. The family would like to extend a warm thank you for the loving care given by the staff of Marshall Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the First Baptist Church in Harrington. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12 noon until the beginning of the service. A memorial reception will be held immediately following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
