CARIBOU – Malcolm D. “Mac” White Jr., 73, of 97A Solman St., died unexpectedly, Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Togus Veterans’ Administration Hospital, Augusta. Mac was born May 26, 1935, in Fort Fairfield, to Vesta (Bobbe) Kenneson and Patrick White, but grew up and went to school in Limestone. Mac joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 16, and served 16 1/2 years, receiving an honorable medical discharge. He then returned to Limestone to raise his family. Mac is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence “Jean” (MacDonald); daughters, Kristie and her husband, Danny Reed, and Kari and her husband, Scott Kelley; sons, Robert, Scott and his wife, Peggy Drost, and Malcolm “Macky” Jr. and his wife, Dee Briggs; sister, Alice “Sally” Armstrong of Alabama; sister-in-law, Eileen Fettes of Nova Scotia; brother-in-law, Don MacDonald of New Brunswick; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Jim and Greg White. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, with Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. Interment with military honors will be held after at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou. The family invites friends to join them for a time of refreshments after the committal at the funeral home.
