FRANKLIN – Malcolm E. ‘Mac’ Butler, 75, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Dec. 1, 1929, in Franklin, the son of Everett and Josephine (Clow) Butler. Until several weeks ago, Mac continued doing the things he so loved – working, dancing, and telling stories. He has spent many hours happily working in the woods and was employed most of his life in construction, for the last 14 years with Doug Gott and Sons, Inc. Mac considered the crew he worked with his second family. Especially dear to him were Doug Gott and John Bakeman. Mac loved to dance and would travel any distance to attend one. He also was known for his story telling – he had a story for every occasion, whether one wanted to hear it or not. He just enjoyed telling them. Mac was a man who worked hard and played hard. He lived his life the way he wanted to. Malcolm is survived by and will be remembered by the mother of his children, Marilyn (Wallace) Butler; a daughter, Catherine Butler Dunbar and her husband, Gregory; a son, Michael Butler and his wife, Kathy; five grandchildren, Casey Dunbar, Tyler Dunbar, Eric Butler, Adam Butler, and Anna Butler; two stepgrandchildren, Megan Yates and Katie Murphy; a brother, Phillip Butler and his wife, Mike; his dancing partner and a woman close to his heart, Mary Kelley; a special nephew, Jay Wallace and his wife Cheri; a niece, Vicky Kief; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at the Franklin Veteran’s Club, Franklin. Cremation arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
