PORTAGE LAKE – Malcolm Eben Nason, 77, died July 16, 2005, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Presque Isle, the son of Charles H. and Doris (Kidney) Nason. Mac was a retired Army veteran serving during three foreign wars and was decorated with many medals for his courageous efforts. He was a member of the VFW, LeBlanc-Junkins Post 9699 and Pioneer Masonic Lodge of Ashland, and the Disabled American Veterans. He will be remembered dearly for his huge loving heart and teaching his family God’s truths and unconditional love. His love for laughter and his sense of humor will never be forgotten. In addition to his mother, Doris Nason of Springfield, Mass., Malcolm is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Sutherland) Nason of Portage Lake; three sons and their wives, Malcolm H. and Jeannie Nason of North Pole, Alaska, Eldon M. and Janet Nason of Houston, Texas, Alan D. and Tammy Nason of Ashland; one brother, Paul Nason of Portage Lake; two sisters, Marie McClausland of Feeding Hills, Mass. and Willetta Bell of Mars Hill; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside committal and memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Sutherland Family Cemetery, Portage Lake, with Pastor Donald Morton Jr. officiating.
