BLAINE – Malcolm J. Mahan, 89, died Oct. 31, 2003, at a Houlton healthcare facility. He was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Mars Hill, the son of James and Susie (Gillespie) Mahan. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mars Hill. Mac farmed in Blaine for more than 50 years and had been a member of the Blaine Town Council. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving him are two brothers and their wives, Clarence and Ann Mahan and Louis and Anne Mahan, all of Mars Hill; a sister and her husband, Pauline and Edward Dahlgren of Blaine; a special nephew, Garold “Chick” Mahan of Houlton; and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James. Relatives and friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Duncan Funeral Home on Main Street in Mars Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mars Hill, with the Rev. Alfred Irving, celebrant. Interment will be in the Pierce Cemetery in Mars Hill. Donations may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
