STONINGTON – Irene McDon-ough, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Island Nursing Home in Deer Isle. She is survived by her three children, Irene Moskowitz and her husband, Joel, of Henderson, Nev., Karen Raynes-Lemoine and her husband, Merrill, of Stonington, and William Raynes III of Brooklin; five grandchildren, Brian, Bristina, Aaron, Jason, and Neisha Flatt; four great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her first husband, William A. Raynes Jr.; and her second husband, Charles McDonough. Irene graduated from Girls High School in Boston and then went on to attend Boston College. She worked in the insurance industry as an adjuster before retiring from Allstate Insurance Co. in 1991. She lived in San Diego for 28 years and then moved to Maine in the early ’90s after losing her eyesight to diabetes. Irene was a member of the Blue Goose Insurance organization and St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Stonington. Irene loved music and singing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines and sang in competition when she lived in Massachusetts in the 1960s. She was also an avid bridge player and participated in many bridge clubs in her years in Massachusetts and California. Funeral services will be private per her request.
