JACKSON – Marcella “Marcy” Gibbs, 56, passed away peacefully March 25, 2008, surrounded by her family, at her home. She was born May 2, 1951, in Belfast, daughter of John H. and Eleanor (York) Dodge. Marcy was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her biggest passion was sewing. She designed and sewed for My Maine Bag and made things like purses and travel bags. She enjoyed her work and made many friends. Marcy was a great cook and was famous for her yeast rolls. She was much admired by her friends and family for her courage, never complaining during her illness. She was known for laughs and chuckles no matter what was going on. She was predeceased by her parents; and daughter, Kristy Rae Gibbs. Marcy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Meldon “Crow” Gibbs of Jackson; her son, Alan Gibbs Sr. of Jackson; siblings, Brenda Gamage and husband, Wayne, of Benton, and Delbert Dodge and fianc?e, Ruth, of Jackson; twin brother, Marshall Dodge and wife, Katherine, of Surry, and Vera McCormick and husband, Barry, of Unity; grandchildren, Ashleigh Gibbs of Brooks and Alan Gibbs Jr. of Jackson; great-granddaughter, Lysa Beckett; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; as well as special friends, Claudette and Loretta. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Brooks Congregational Church with a reception after at Varney Memorial, Brooks. Those who wish may make donations in Marcy’s memory to Kristy Gibbs Scholarship Fund, care of Mount View High School, 577 Mount View Road, Thorndike, ME 04986.
