MARGARET E. SEVEY RIPLEY – Margaret E. Sevey, 65, passed away peacefully, July 8, 2004, at her home in Ripley, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Dexter, the daughter of Frederick and Clair (Russell) Keyte. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Dexter and Ripley, and was a dedicated homemaker and wife. She was an incredibly talented quilter and gardener, and gave special life to everyone and everything around her. Her greatest joys were making others happy, and providing a warm and loving home to her husband and family. Margaret’s life was much like the quilts she loved to design, with pieces and parts of her life and that of her family’s placed closely together and held there by her determination and handiwork. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Howard L. Sevey Sr. of Ripley; two sons, Howard Sevey Jr. of Manchester, N.H., Stewart Sevey and wife, Cherylene, of Skowhegan; a daughter, Shannon McKechnie and husband, Bill, of Hampden; seven grandchildren including Howard Sevey III of New Hampshire, Melissa Lyons, Heather Lyons, Megan and Bethany Sevey, all of Skowhegan, Zachary and Joshua McKechnie of Hampden; and her great-grandson, Devin Dressler of Skowhegan; two brothers, Bill Keyte and Peter Keyte and wife, Ann, of Dexter. She was predeceased by her brother, David Keyte, in 1999. Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. A family burial will be held at a later time at the Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Health and Counseling Service Hospice, 14 Summer St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426 or to New England Home Health Care, 412 State St., Bangor, ME 04401. As a result of the efforts of these two agencies Margaret was able to stay at home during her illness.
