BANGOR – Margaret R. Smith, 79, wife of the late Robert E. Smith, died March 1, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1927, the daughter of Edwin R. and Ruth H. (Brierley) Millring. Margaret grew up in New York City and worked as a waitress at some of the finest restaurants and banquet centers in New York. She was an avid gardener and she loved to cook for family and friends. She is survived by two children, Hillary Ward and her husband, Clyde, of San Antonio, Texas and Justin Smith and his wife, Bridget, of Philadelphia, Pa.; two grandchildren, Grace Warner of Bangor and Roberta Buckley of Biloxi, Miss.; three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Constance Warner of Bangor and Jasmine Buckley of Biloxi, Miss.; two nephews, Stephen Douglas of Vancouver, B.C., Canada and Dwight Douglas of Peekskill, N.Y. She was predeceased by one son, Malcolm Smith; and one sister, Priscilla Douglas. Family and friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Saturday, at the home of Grace Warner, 9 Royal Rd., Bangor, where a memorial service will held 3 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Mark Doty, pastor of the Hammond Street Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer.
