BLUE HILL – Margaret Smith Teel passed away March 7, 2006, in her home. She was the youngest daughter of Samuel A. and Alice V. Smith. Maggie grew up in Summit, N.J., where she graduated from Kent Place School. She went on to Pine Manor College and Boston University where she received a Bachelor of Science in art history. She loved cooking and after her three sons went off to college she opened Maggie’s Pantry, a gourmet shop and catering business in Fairfield, Conn. That was her joy for many years and the shop was selected for inclusion in the publication “Where the Locals Eat.” In 1999, she and her husband retired to Blue Hill. Her cooking interests continued there and she was instrumental in starting the cafe at the Blue Hill Co-op. She is survived by her husband, Norcross; and her sons, David, William and Elliott; her daughter-in-law, Julia; her granddaughter, Lucia; and her sister, Ellen Corbett. A memorial service will be held in the late spring or early summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Parsonage Fund of the Blue Hill Congregational Church, P.O. Box 444, Blue Hill, ME 04614.
