MADAWASKA – Marguerite L. Daigle, 92, died Aug. 23, 2008, at a Fort Kent health care facility, after a brief illness. She had been a resident at St. Joseph Nursing Home, Frenchville, since February and Ridgewood Estates for two years prior to that. She was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the youngest of eight children and daughter of the well-known “Taylor Lebel,” formally Joseph and Albertine (Lucas) Lebel. Marguerite was an elementary school teacher who taught 13 years in Edmundston and throughout the New Brunswick province, before she married the late Adrien J. Daigle of Madawaska. She later returned to teaching after 10 years and taught in Madawaska for 25 years. A former tennis champion in the New Brunswick province, she lived an active lifestyle and was loved by all. She opened the first bakery in Madawaska and also operated a small diner all while teaching in Madawaska as well. She was a member of the Legion’s Ladies Auxillary and a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church Council, Madawaska. She was known for her great character and humility as a hard working person, and instilled these qualities in the children she taught. She had a great sense of humor and immeasurable love for all people. Marguerite was the wife of the late Adrien J. Daigle. She is survived by two sons, Roger A. Daigle of Raymond and Albert J. Daigle of Hudson, Fla.; one daughter, Anne Daigle of Madawaska; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and family may visit 6-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
