HARTLAND – Marian S. Laughton, 86, a resident of North Street, died peacefully Saturday, June 30, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She was born March 21, 1921, in Hartland, the daughter of Melvin and Hope (Bennett) Wyman. Marian graduated from Hartland Academy, Class of 1939. She was employed by the former Scott-Webb Memorial Hospital, Hartland, as a secretary for many years and later she worked for Sanfield Rehabilitation and Living Center, Hartland. She was a member of Grace-Linn Memorial United Methodist Church, Hartland, for many years. She was also active in the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Chapter and served as a matron. Additionally, she was a secretary to the trustee board of the Hartland Library and also a member of the Outlook Club, Hartland. She was well known for her willingness to share baked goods with family and friends in the church. Grandmom always had molasses cookies ready when her children and grandchildren came to visit. Along with a life long love for flowers and cats; she was known as a friend to all. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward L. Laughton; two sons, Sherman Laughton and his wife, Jeanne, of Lyndonville, Vt., and Nelson Laughton and his wife, Ann, of Bel Air, Md.; a daughter, Barbara and her husband, Robert Dunn, of Hudson, Mass., nine grandchildren and three great-grand-children. She was predeceased by a daughter, Edwina Hardy; and a brother, Donald Wyman. Visiting hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Grace Linn Memorial United Methodist Church, Seekins Street, Hartland. Interment will be after at Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, Hartland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grace-Linn Memorial United Methodist Church, 8 Seekins St., Hartland, ME 04943 or to Sanfield Rehabilitation and Living Center, P.O. Box 489, Hartland, ME 04943. Arrangements are entrusted to Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
