OLD TOWN – Marie “Arlene” Cote, 80, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Feb. 11, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Old Town, a daughter of Walter and Rose (Plourde) Bearce. During Arlene’s younger years, she enjoyed going on long drives and camping with her husband, Gerard. She enjoyed using the CB radio and was known by her handle “Witchy-Poo”. She loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In early retirement, she and Gerard spent several winters in Florida. Following her husband’s death, Arlene moved to the Freese’s Apartments in Bangor, where she enjoyed the games and activities, group exercise and coffee socials. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion Women’s Auxiliaries and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She is survived by five children, Michael Cote and his wife, Diana, of Costigan, Andy Cote and his wife, Peggy, of Lisbon Falls, Ronald Cote and his wife, Lisa, of Old Town, Norma Parkinson and her husband, Jim, of Memphis, Tenn., Laurie Dunn and her husband, David, of Bangor; seven grandchildren, Michelle Cote, Tonya White, Andrea Cote, Lance Cote and his wife, Paula, Jeremy Cote and his wife, Cindy, Skye Whitney and Hannah Dunn; six great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brooklyne White, Jacob and Madison Cote, Lacey and Cameron Cote; special friend, and companion, Earle Leveille and many nieces and nephews. Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Gerard Francis Cote Dec. 21, 2002; four brothers, Walter, Wilfred, Clifford Cyr and Harold Bearce; and a sister, Clara Coleman. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Holy Family Parish, with the Rev. Bill Labbe, celebrant. Immediately following the service all are invited to a luncheon served in the Holy Family Parish Center.
