ORONO – Marie C. Miller, 81, devoted wife of the late John Miller, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Friday evening, March 16, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. Marie had a full and varied life, raised on the coast; she was a strong swimmer, sailor and athlete as a young woman. She earned her bachelors and a masters degree in organic chemistry and another in nutrition from Fordham University. After working during World War II for the war effort, she found her true career love as an elementary school teacher. She was known by her family and friends, as a devoted and caring woman who, along with John, her husband of 52 years, gave selflessly to the causes they believed in. Marie was a devote Catholic, with a strong faith and devotion to God the Father, angels and saints. She was, until her last moment, a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who loved family above all else, and will be dearly missed by those who knew her. Marie is survived by her brother, Henry Neumann and wife, Suelan; son, Greg and his wife, Julie; grandson, Cody and many caring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Gerard Neumann; sister, Anita Novak; and her dearly loved mother, AnnaMarie; and father, Henry Neumann. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono, with the Rev. Wilfred Labbe, pastor, celebrant. Graveside committal prayers and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono, in the spring.
