ST. FRANCIS – Morris “Maurice” D. Walker, 77, died March 17, 2007, with his wife by his side, at his home in St. Francis. He was born March 16, 1930, in Allagash, the son of Ernest and Eunice (Castonguay) Walker. He was the sixth son of 12 children. Morris went to school in Allagash and St. Francis. He began his working years as a woodsman. Morris was an avid hunter and fisherman, serving as a Maine guide for several years. He was a member of the Marines from 1951 to 1953, serving in Korea, which earned him two Purple Hearts. He concluded his working years as a Maine fire warden in St. Pamphile. He was a member of the, Disabled American Veterans’, DAV, and was a communicant of the St. Charles Parish, St. Francis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene (Jandreau) Walker of St. Francis; two sisters, Mary Ouellette of Connecticut and Patricia Nadeau of St. Francis; one brother; Leo of Caribou; five sisters-in-law, Bertile Walker of Connecticut, Claudette Walker of St. Francis and Massachusetts, Claudine Walker of St. Francis, Josephine and Omer Pelletier of Connecticut, Barbara and George Baker of Ashland; three brothers-in-law, Adrian Jandreau of St. Francis, Romeo Pelletier of Caribou and Robert and Babe Jandreau of St. John; many nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins. Morris will be sorely missed by many friends and relatives. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Edgar and Rene; three sisters, Nellie, Margaret and Betty. At the families request there will be no viewing hours. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal services will be held May 16, at St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Maine Medical Center Cardiac Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743 or to Forest Hill Manor Activities Fund, 25 Bolduc Ave., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements are being handled by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
