OAKVILLE, Conn. – Marie (Jordan-Macgowan) Reed, of 44 Evelyn St., died March 30, 2005 at the Health Center of Greater Waterbury, 177 Whtiewood Road, Waterbury, Conn. She was the wife of Averyl O. Reed of Oakville, Conn. Mrs. Reed was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Thomaston, the daughter of the late Rodney and Maud (Overlock) Jordan. She had lived in Oakville for 43 years. She graduated from Thomaston High School with Second Oration Honors in 1941 and Ballard Business School in 1942. She worked for the U.S. Office of Price Administrator (OPA) in Augusta, until her marriage to Warren Macgowan in 1944. She later moved to Portland and worked for the U.S. Office of Rent Stabilization. She moved to the Waterville area of Waterbury and worked in various office/secretarial positions before becoming employed by Burndy Corporation (now Framatome Connectors, Inc.) in Beacon Falls. Her first husband predeceased her in 1980 and in 1986 she married her high school sweetheart, Averyl Reed. She retired from FCI in 1987. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church, 965 Litchfield Road, Watertown, and the Watertown/Oakville Taxpayers Association (WOTA). She is survived by her husband, Averyl; a daughter, Lorraine Macgowan-Stauch of Avon, Conn.; stepsons, James and Richard Reed of Petaluma and Napa, Calif.; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews in Maine, Maryland, Florida, and California. Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Berean Baptist Church, 965 Litchfield Road, Watertown, Conn. Calling hours will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the church. She will be interred in the Reed family plot, Village Cemetery, Thomaston.
