JONESPORT – Marie S. Beal, 74, passed away peacefully July 13, 2008. She was born Feb. 28, 1934, the daughter of Eleanor C. Clarke and the late Melvin L. Clarke. Marie graduated from Washington Academy, East Machias, Class of 1952, and received her associate degree from Husson College. She was a member of the Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, Machias Chapter No. 83 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 108, Jonesport. She was a member of Jonesport’s Tuesday Night Club and Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church, Jonesport. She was primarily a homemaker. Her other employment included Washington County Cooperative Extension, W.T. Grant Co., Maine Wild Blueberry, Carver Shellfish, Uncle Miltie’s Fish Market and Rockdale Farms. She loved watching the Red Sox, entertaining family and friends, and always looked forward to her favorite holiday, Christmas. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Milton F. Beal. She is survived by her children; son, Brian F. and his wife, Ruth, of Marshfield; daughter, Beth (Beal) Carver and her husband, Albert, of Beals; son, Brent L. and his wife, Linisa, of Hermon; grandchildren, Chelsie M. Carver, Hannah A. and Caleb F. Beal, Morgan M. and Benjamin L. Beal; and godchild, Melinda (Parker) Dolan of Eliot. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport, with Pastor George Woodward officiating. After the service, friends are invited to celebrate Marie’s life at the family home, 942 Mason’s Bay Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie’s name may be sent to Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church or the charity of one’s choice.
