BANGOR – Marie Victoria Stewart Leathers died Sept. 14, 2005. She was born April 17, 1918. She spent her childhood in Winn, and then moved to Bangor with her husband, Al in 1937. Marie lived in Bangor for the rest of her life, raising her son, Robert. They spent summers on Holbrook Pond in the camp that she and Al and many friends built in 1945. She later worked in the children’s department at WT Grant, and then at the Eastern Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of the Patawa Club and the Saturday Nighters, Marie was also an avid bridge player throughout her life. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Al in 1992, and by her brother, Frank Stewart of Bangor in 1998. She leaves behind her son, Robert Leathers and spouse, Cheryl Nickel, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Katrina Leathers and spouse, Tom Rockwell, and their children, Mateo and Lucia, of Oakland, Calif., Marc Leathers and spouse, Kyle Cundy, and their children, Josh, Soraya and Taj, of Ithaca, N.Y., Sonya Leathers and spouse, Josh Levy, and their child, Talia, of Chicago, Ill., and Jenna Leathers of Los Angeles, Calif. She also leaves behind her niece, Sally Fox of Bangor; and cousin, Caren Paull of Georgetown, Texas. She was well loved, and will be much missed. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow.
