BELFAST – Marion E. Greeley, 81, died peacefully June 26, 2005, after a brief illness. She was born July 20, 1923, in Portland, the daughter of Robert and Margueritte Foster. Later in her life, she was blessed with a stepmother, Lelia Simmons Foster. Marion graduated from Deering High School in 1941 and went to work for New England Telephone Company. She married Thomas Greeley June 16, 1947. They lived happily on Cedar Street in Belfast for 48 years. Thomas and Marion were communicants of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Marion was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother. She greatly enjoyed family and friends. She spent the last year and a half living at Harbor Hill, Assisted Living Home with her sister and sister-in-law. She made many new friends there, including staff and residents. She took great pleasure in participating in all the activities and outings. Marion had a sweet, kind disposition that brought joy to all those who met her. Everyone who knew her well, and those who just met her, commented on what a cheerful, loving person she was. She was always happy and always saw the best in any situation. Marion was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Thomas E. Greeley; and one grandchild, William Knight III. She is survived by her children, Mary Salvatore and her husband, Al, Kathleen Knight, Michael Greeley and his wife, Aprille, Maureen Ladd and her husband, Daniel; She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Maura and her husband, Eric Harvey, Albie Salvatore and his fianc?e, Julie, Nicholas Salvatore and his wife, Sonja, Jessica and her husband, Joseph Van Hart, Elizabeth and her husband, Jonathan Reynolds, Rebecca Knight, Marie Knight, Jarrod Greeley and Courtney, Derek Greeley and Toni, Bridget and her husband, Nicholas Morse; 12 great- grandchildren; her sister, Jane Foster; her brother, Robert Foster and his wife, Hilma; three nieces, Karen Goyet, Lelia Dyer, Jeanette Belanger; two nephews, Dana Foster and Paul Foster, and their families; and by Marion D. Greeley, her husband’s sister. A Memorial Mass will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Belfast, with Fr. Chris Piselli, officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service. Interment will be private. Memorial Contributions may be sent to: American Diabetes Association, Maine Affiliate, P.O.
