SHERMAN STATION and POTTERSVILLE N.J. – Marion Perkins Goodenough, 63, died peacefully Nov. 18, 2003 at her home in Pottersville, N.J. She was born March 24, 1940, in Island Falls, the beloved daughter of Norman and Elizabeth Perkins. Marion graduated valedictorian from Patten Academy and continued on to the University of Maine, Orono, where she graduated with highest distinction from the first class of the School of Nursing. She obtained her masters degree in education from Rutger’s University in New Jersey. Marion moved to New Jersey in 1963 and advanced her nursing career from staff nurse to nursing education and nursing administration. She was vice president of patient care services at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ for 22 years and most recently was assistant director of nursing at the Methany School and Hospital in Peapack, N.J. She held positions on many state committees and also served as the New Jersey state representative to the National Chapter of the American Red Cross. She dedicated many hours as an American Red Cross Disaster Relief volunteer. Marion was an avid cyclist, skier, golfer, and world traveler and especially enjoyed her trips to Maine to spend vacations with family and friends. Marion will be sadly missed by her parents of Sherman Station; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kimberly of Eliot; her son, Randall of Woodstock, Ga., her cherished grandsons, Bryant and Turner of Eliot; her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Nancy Perkins of Patten, her brother and sister-in-law, George and Julie Perkins of Benton, her sister Linda Perkins of Glenburn, several nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the Stetson Memorial Methodist Church in Patten with the Rev. Thomas Chandler officiating.
