LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Marion Simmons, 67, of Lakewood passed away Feb. 12, 2005, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. She was born in Bangor, and resided in Belford before moving to Lakewood in 1995. She received her registered nurse degree from Eastern Maine General School of Nursing and her bachelor of science and nursing from Thomas Edison State College. Mrs. Simmons was a registered nurse for 36 years. She was head of the infectious control department at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank for about 10 years, finishing her career as a case manager, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Mah Jong Club. She was the wife of the late Le Roy Simmons who passed away Jan. 13, 2005. Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Brian of Seaside, N.J., Barry of Newark, N.J., and David and Beth of Ocean, N.J.; brother, Larry Johnson of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; and her granddaughters, Alyse, Haley and Julia. Visiting will be 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, N.J. Services will be noon Tuesday, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrews United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1528 Church Road, Toms River, NJ would be appreciated. Cremation is private.
