DEER ISLE – Marjorie E. (Black) Judkins, 91, died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at a Deer Isle health care facility. She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Deer Isle, the daughter of the late Herbert W. and Mary (Albee) Judkins. Mrs. Judkins was employed as a cook at the French Camp, Goose Cove Lodge, and at the elementary and high school in Deer Isle. She was also a private cook for several summer resident families. She also owned and operated a bed and breakfast out of her home in later years. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, hunting and she made the best blueberry pie in the world. She shared 47 years of marriage with the late Joseph Judkins. Family members include a son, Lewis H. Judkins and friend, Marcia, of Deer Isle; five grandchildren, Warren Judkins and wife, Heidi, of Deer Isle, Laurie Nisbet and husband, Orville, of Lincolnville Beach, Kelly Siele and friend, William Nutter, of Deer Isle, Daniel Judkins and wife, Jessica, of Deer Isle, and Joel Scott and wife, Bethany, of Wells; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Mariah, Ryan, Kyle, Jordyn, Marissa, and Jacob; two nieces, Jeannine and Natalie; and a nephew, Warner. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Warren Cemetery, South Deer Isle, with A. Dow Eaton officiating. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
