HAMPDEN – Marjorie Eleanor (Lynch) Messer, 71, went home to be with her Lord July 13, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence. Marjorie was born March 15, 1937, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Joseph P. and Eleanor K. (Meyer) Lynch. Marjorie was an outstanding homemaker, as well as an exceptional mother to her eight children. She considered her children to be a great gift and devoted her life to them. When spare time allowed, Marge enjoyed listening to music, reading, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, yard sales and gardening. She was a faithful Catholic and a communicant of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Hampden. Marjorie will be remembered as having the “best sense of humor” and as being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Marjorie is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Albert W. Messer of Hampden; her eight loving children, Mark and Beth Messer of Kennebunkport, Maureen El-Hajj of Rockland, Michael Messer of North Yarmouth, Matthew Messer of Porter, Marie and Peter Webb of Stetson, Meg and Pat Philippon of Glenburn, Martin and Meredith Messer of Camden and Malerie Messer of Fort Myers, Fla., 14 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; a brother, Jack Lynch of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Jane and Leo McGinn of Hanover, Pa.; many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Patrick Lynch; a sister, Katharine Lynch; and a granddaughter, Kate Messer. Family and friends are invited to visit 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant. Interment after the funeral will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
