CARIBOU – Marjorie Alice Olsen, 92, wife of the late John Olsen, died Aug. 26, 2005, at Caribou. She was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Grand Falls, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Scott and Mary Jane (Parent) Olsen. Mrs. Olsen was employed as a telephone operator for Rothschild Brokerage in New York City for a number of years. She was a member of the Golden Years Club at the Caribou United Baptist Church and was also a founding member of the Caribou Widows Support Group. Marjorie will be fondly remembered for her exquisite needlework and for many years she had a booth at the local craft fair where she displayed her needlework and dolls. She was well-known for her antique doll restoration as well as her custom made dolls. Her favorite color was blue and this was very evident to all who entered her home. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including, Ted Tornquist and Donald Merritt, both of Caribou, Richard Merritt of Grand Falls, Peter Tornquist of Santa Barbara Calif., Evelyn McGowan of Presque Isle, Natalie Bois of Grand Falls, and Marilyn Cousins of Washburn; many great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Olsen was predeceased by seven brothers, Lyman, Allison, Allan, Sperry, Burton, Ray and Frederick; and by three sisters, Doris Merritt, Vella Tornquist and Viva Merritt. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 28 from the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou, with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Interment took place in the Grand Falls Union Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Olsen may do so through the charity of ones choice.
