HOLDEN – Mark R. MacDonald, 46, husband of Mary (Caulkins) MacDonald for 22 years, died Feb. 7, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1957, in Bangor, the son of Robert E. and Doris A. (Countryman) MacDonald. Mark was a graduate of Bangor High School. He was a Holden volunteer Firefighter for more than 20 years, retiring as the assistant fire chief and was a very active community member serving on several Holden Town Board Committees. Mark’s passion in life was owning and operating many Dunkin Donuts stores in the Bangor area, with his parents and brothers. He loved the interaction with other Dunkin Donut operators and the Dunkin Donuts community as well. During the last few years Mark became an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Ricky Craven, whom he meet on several occasions at the Ricky Craven Snowmobile ride in Greenville. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and family on Lake Ontario. Mark’s life long dream was to build a log home. He fulfilled his dream several years ago on Chemo Pond, where he spent many days on the lake with family and friends. In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by two loving daughters, Amy M. and Stephanie L. MacDonald of Holden; three brothers, Bruce MacDonald and his wife, Kathy, of Clifton, Scott and Craig MacDonald, both of Orrington; one sister, Lynn and her husband, Fred Storen, of Staten Island, N.Y.; a father-in-law, Frank Caulkins of Levant; brother-in-law, James Hart and his wife, Pam, of Glenburn, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed the company of two special nephews, Joey and Robbie MacDonald. He will be sadly missed by his favorite companion, his black lab, Kasey. The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses of the six floor at Eastern Maine Medical Center, CancerCare of Maine, and the staff of Ross Manor for all their care and consideration during this difficult time. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 11 at the Columbia Street Baptist Church, 63 Columbia St., Bangor, with the Rev. Peter Sprague, pastor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the services Wednesday to the home of Robert and Doris MacDonald, 75 Clark Hill Road, Holden.
