BLUE HILL – Martha E. Bailey, 77, passed away June 5, 2005, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Greenbush, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Agatha (Murphy) Fowler. Martha enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. She worked in children’s home health care and in 1982 while in Connecticut, she was awarded healthcare worker of the year at Ann Storcks Nursery in Norfolk, Conn. She is survived by daughters, Gwen Ockels of Blue Hill, Fern Gagnon of East Burke, Vt., Diane Bailey of Torrington, Conn., Lisha Snigier of Seaford, Del.; brothers, Charles Fowler Jr. of Terryville, Conn., Ernest Fowler of Harwinton, Conn., Peter Thompson of Rockland; sisters, Maude Rushlow of Belfast, Alma Williams of East Hampton, Mass., Esther Keene of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ivory; sons, Roger and Richard; two grandchildren, Shawn and Julie; brothers, Almon, William; and a sister, Dorothy. Calling hours will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South Street, Blue Hill, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Susan Yaruta-Young, officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Blue Hill.
