OAKLAND – Anthony A. Robinson, 26, of Oakland, went to be with God, on Saturday, June 4, 2005, while hiking the Appalachian Trail in Monson, ME with his Dad. He was born in Waterville, May 14, 1979, the son of Timothy and Eileen (Usilton) Robinson. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1998 and he also attended Thomas College. He was very well read and particularly enjoyed political discussions and current events. Anthony was a remarkable young man who valued family over everything. Anthony enjoyed lawn care and gardening. His greatest passion was motor cross racing and down hill skiing. He ran the New England Motocross Association circuit in the early 1990’s and received numerous trophies for his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. Anthony’s racing and skiing came to a sudden end in 1994 after his total back fusion due to scoliosis and kyphoscoliosis. He began skiing again five years ago against his doctors’ recommendations. Sugarloaf was Anthony’s mountain where he spent many days skiing with his Dad and friends Paul and Vicky Nitchell, Barry Mollis, Jack Norcross, Matt Hamilton and Lee Weeks. Anthony freely gave of himself to everyone while continually battling his bipolar illness; he wrote the most heart felt and sincere letters to family and friends. Anthony complained little although often in pain; he was always grateful for what he had. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him. Anthony particularly enjoyed spending time with his niece, Elizabeth, sister, Jen and brother-in-law, Kelly. Elizabeth referred to her Uncle Anthony as “Uncle Edgar” at a very young age. Anthony loved his cat “Cosmo” and missed his deceased dog “Hilly”. He and his mother had several luncheon spots that they enjoyed in the Portland area and then visiting the coast. Anthony enjoyed visiting with his brother, Timmy and nieces, Shyanne and Keely. Anthony leaves behind his mother, Eileen Robinson of Portland; his father, Timothy Robinson of Skowhegan; his sister, Jen Turner and husband, Kelly and their daughter, Elizabeth; a brother, Timothy Robinson, Jr. and wife, Veronica and their children, Shyanne and Keely of Carmel; paternal grandparents, Carroll and Rosemary Robinson of Bangor; maternal grandmother, Doris Usilton of Toms River, N.J.; he will be deeply missed by his uncles, Peter Robinson and wife, Jaynee, Kevin Robinson and wife, Bonnie, and Brian Usilton; aunts, Molly Protheroe and husband, Don, and Nancy Willman; cousins, Kristina, Seth, Brian, Marinna, Morgan, Emily, Maria, Lynda, Kevin, Amy, and Christy; as well as numerous great aunts, uncles and friends. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness given to Anthony by his stepfamily, Wendy Robinson of Canaan, Earl and Theresa Nichols, Rhonda Rugan, Richard, Debra and Rhiannon Laplante, Danny, Melanie, and Lindsey Adams all of Skowhegan; and the two exceptional doctors, Sugarman and Fine of Augusta that contributed to a better quality of life for Anthony over the last five years. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Ave., with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
