DEXTER and NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – Martha E. Sprague, 91, died Dec. 20, 2003, at a Dexter healthcare facility. She was born July 6, 1912, at Exeter, R.I., a daughter of Charles and Margaret (Buchanan) Northup. She graduated from Wickford (R.I.) High School and served as head teller at Old Colony Bank in East Greenwich, R.I., for many years. She had been a resident of Dexter for the past 16 years. Martha was a member of the Stoney Lane Baptist Church in Rhode Island and attended the First Free Baptist Church in Dexter. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon C. Sprague, on Aug. 7, 1996. She is survived by a son, Harry Northup of W. Hartford, Conn.; one daughter, Joan E. Banks of Dexter; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Cranston’s of Wickford Funeral Home, North Kingstown, R.I. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Stoney Lane Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Free Baptist Church Sunday School program, P.O. Box 111, Dexter, ME 04930.
