EAST MILLINOCKET- Martha L. (Pelkey) Paoletti passed away peacefully Feb. 1, 2005 in East Millinocket. She was born on the 18th of July, 1926 in East Millinocket, the daughter of William and Lydia (McLaughlin) Pelkey, graduated from Schenck High School and lived in town all her life. Martha was first and foremost a wife, a Mom, a grandmother “Nana”, and a loyal friend to those who knew her. She embraced life with humor, common sense, and more than a touch of mischievous fun. She held a wide variety of interests and past-times: she was an accomplished cook for family and friends, created wonderful crafts and artwork, read voraciously, and enjoyed music, singing old songs, and listening to Neil Diamond with her grandchildren. Martha was predeceased by her best friend and husband of 54 years, Raymond Paoletti. She is survived by her sisters, Pauline Nelson and Claudine McLaughlin and her brothers, William “Max”and Jack Pelkey. She is also survived by her five children; Stephen of Costa Mesa, Calif., Paula and husband, Gary Gray, of East Vassalboro, Karen and husband, Mickey Jones, of East Millinocket, Thomas and wife, Ellen, of Dover, N.H., and Frank of Phoenix, Ariz. She loved, and will be missed by her six grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, and Erin Gray, Matthew and Samantha Jones, and Patrick Paoletti. Martha extended her warm embrace to include special family and friends, Leta, Mollie, Jim, and Beverly who will sadly miss her friendship. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martha’s name to the Katahdin Area Support Group in Millinocket.
