NEWPORT – Martha A. Patterson, 58, died Jan. 24, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1946, at Glens Falls, N.Y., a daughter of Frank and Evelyn (Ryder) Dill. She was a member of the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport, and a former member of the Sebasticook Garden Club. Martha owned and operated “Salads By Martha” for a number of years, from which she sold and distributed her own recipe of homemade macaroni and potato salads to area supermarkets and restaurants. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, David R. Patterson of Newport; two sons, Terrance and wife, Lisa Patterson, of Kalida, Ohio, Aaron and wife, Kimberly Patterson, of Lafayette, Ind.; a brother, Fred Dill of Trenton, Fla.; two sisters, Marsha Verhille of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Phyllis Dort of Windsor; four grandchildren, Amanda, Aaron, Gregory, and Matthew. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, with the Rev. Bruce Hudson officiating.
