HOULTON – Joan M. Ivey, 65, died Jan. 7, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born May 2, 1939, at Houlton, the daughter of Maynard E. and Ferne C. (Swimm) Patchell. Joan was a member of the Houlton United Methodist Church and local Women’s Club. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family, sewing, arts and crafts, basket making, going to camp, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed being a member of Curves. She was employed by SAD No. 29 for many years as the school cook. She was a very caring and thoughtful lady, always going the extra mile to help anyone in need. Her gift to love others touched many lives. She will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who had the pleasure to call her a friend. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ralph A. Ivey of Houlton; three sons, Timothy Ivey and his wife, Dale Anne, of Hodgdon, Kevin Ivey and his wife, Yong Cha, of Taequ, Korea, Jonathan Ivey and his wife, Jennifer, of Hampden; four grandchildren, Stephanie L. Ivey of Linneus, Sarah L. Ivey of Taequ, Korea, Savannah A. Botting of Lincoln, and Austin A. “Little Buddy” Ivey of Hampden; one sister, Bonnie Codrey and her husband, Steven, of Littleton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Pope. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at the Houlton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Naomi Sam’Kpakra, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
