ROBBINSTON – Marthas H. Diffin, 87, died Feb. 5, 2004, at a Calais health-care facility. He was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Robbinston, the son of Edward and Pearl (Jallotta) Diffin. Matt was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Germany, and a member of the Sherman Bros. Post No. 3 American Legion of Calais. He was employed many years by the Maine State Department of Transportation. Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Crandlemire of Sandown, N.H., Sharon Diffin and companion, Dennis Ryan, of Calais; one brother, Eddie Diffin of Princeton; two grandchildren, C. Pitt Crandlemire and his wife of Brookline, Mass., Connie Wight and her husband of Sandown, N.H.; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Brewer Cemetery, Robbinston.
