VAN BUREN – Martin R. Parent, 59, died Jan. 1, 2004, at a Van Buren health care facility after a long illness. He was born in Lille, Oct. 25, 1944, the son of Valere and Leona (St. Pierre) Parent. He was employed as a carpenter and painter for most of his life. Martin was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council 1635 and the Fourth Degree Assembly of Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Diane (Madore) Parent of Van Buren; five daughters, Monica Parent of Presque Isle, Lana Parent, Jessica Parent, Courtney Parent and Tina Mazerolle, all of Van Buren; two sisters, Gladys Gagnon of Bristol, Conn. and Irene Michaud of Brownville; three brothers, Abel Parent of Van Buren, Antoine Parent of Tolland, Conn. and Lawrence Parent of Terryville, Conn.; four grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the Grande Riviere Cemetery.
