FORT FAIRFIELD – Martin S. Morrow, 85, beloved husband of Virginia Morrow, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 2, 2006 at a Caribou healthcare facility, after an extended illness. He was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Otis Sr. and Louise (Martin) Morrow. Martin attended local schools and was married to Virginia Van Buskirk Aug. 7, 1950. Martin will be remembered by all as an easygoing sociable person with a unique sense of humor and pleasant disposition, who genuinely cared a great deal for others. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the beauty of nature while hunting and fishing. Martin greatly enjoyed attending tractor pulls at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds with his daughter, Marie and also loved to play cards, especially “45” with his many friends and acquaintances in the local area. After retirement from potato farming, Martin was employed by the Bridge Construction Co. of Augusta, the Weatherhead Potato Co. and the H.A. Pollack Potato Co., both of Fort Fairfield. He also worked on a part-time basis for his son at the Dana M. Morrow Potato Farm, Fort Fairfield, after his retirement. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morrow was predeceased by five brothers, Norman, Otis Jr., Archie, Preston and Donald Morrow; four sisters, Sister Mable Morrow, Adeline Morrow, Yvonne Beckette, Martin’s twin sister, Marie Morrow. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Morrow of Fort Fairfield; three sons, Jerry Morrow and Marianne of Webberville, Mich., Dana Morrow of Fort Fairfield and Powers, Mich., Wayne Morrow of Caribou and Madawaska Lake; one daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Gerald Saccucci of Fort Fairfield; one sister, Rita Paradis of Fort Fairfield; three grandchildren, Krystal Sweet and her husband, Ryan, of Howell, Mich., Kimberly Hitchcock and her husband, Darryl, of Caribou, Mark Saccucci and his fiance, Christine, of Shepardstown, W.Va.; one great-grandson, Wesley Ethan Hitchcock of Caribou; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Michael Paradis of Presque Isle; four special nieces, Susan Thibeau Alday of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Karen Thibeau Stewart of Arizona, Ann Thibeau Ryan of Michigan and Lorraine Thibeau Sanders of Upland, Calif. Martin’s memory will be fondly cherished by all who knew him. The family of Mr. Morrow would like to extend a special thank you to Caribou Nursing and Rehab. and the Cary Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided to Mr. Morrow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at the St. Denis Catholic Church, 143 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. David Raymond celebrant. Friends may call 11:30 a.m. until the time of departure for the church at Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Interment will be afterward at the St. Denis Catholic Church Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the interment service.
